During my university Product Design professional placement at the Scottish Design Exchange store, I had to design, create and display a product of my choosing for sale. This required a personal brand image, and learning how to price and feature the product on a shelf.
My product was a laser-cut LED mossy waterfall diorama, to highlight the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest, and to make something beautiful that reminds the user to take a peaceful breath.
I learned a lot from this project as I challenged myself to learn how to laser cut, 3D print, solder, collect and preserve moss, naturally dye wood and create a packaging experience and a personal brand. I also designed a “kit”-style business card of a miniature version of the diorama.
